Biography

Prof. Yi is currently a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He received his BE degree in Computer Science from the Tsinghua University and PhD in Computer Science from Duke University.

His main theme of research would be to exploit the rich interdependence between theory and practice and his research interest includes database theory and algorithms, data streams, data summarization, sampling, data structures, parallel and distributed algorithms, external memory algorithms, data mining and computational geometry. He is an Associate Editor of ACM Transactions on Database Systems and IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering.
